Experts in private healthcare

Spire Healthcare is a leading independent healthcare group in the United Kingdom. Our purpose is ’making a positive difference to people’s lives, through outstanding personalised care’, and this enables Spire to instil a culture of respect, inclusion and collaboration across the business.

This culture supports our ability to deliver high standards of care with integrity and compassion, from high-quality facilities to our insured, self-pay and NHS patients and our employer clients.

Running 38 hospitals and over 60+ clinics across England, Wales and Scotland, we provide diagnostics, inpatient, day case and outpatient care in areas including orthopaedics, gynaecology, cardiology, neurology, oncology, paediatrics and general surgery. We provide physiotherapy for many patients, before and after their surgery and as standalone care. Some surgeries in orthopaedics and urology are supported by the latest robotics. We are the leading independent provider by volume of knee and hip operations in the United Kingdom. Working in partnership with over 8,800 experienced practising consultants, we delivered tailored, personalised care to over 1.36 million people in 2025.

The group was founded with the acquisition and re-branding of 25 Bupa hospitals in 2007. Since then, we have made significant capital investments in our estate, adding new sites and improving others. We deliver successful and award-winning outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction.

We began expansion into primary care services in 2022 and now operate a network of private GPs, deliver private, NHS and corporate mental health, dermatological and musculoskeletal services, and provide workplace health services  to almost 1,400 clients with the ability to advise, prevent and treat people through employer-funded care. We are a vanguard for the Keep Britain Working Review , working with the government’s Workplace Health Intelligence Unit to help improve health-related economic inactivity. Physiotherapy is offered in a growing number of mixed-use clinics with pathways from GP care and into hospitals. We are increasing our capacity in clinics that offer care to private, NHS and employer-funded patients in one local place. We are the leading independent provider of NHS talking therapies.

Spire is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 250.

Patients, consultants and general practitioners trust Spire Healthcare to deliver the high quality care they expect from a leading private healthcare provider. For us, it's more than just treating patients, it's about looking after people.
