Spire Liverpool Hospital starts work on a new clinic at One Penny Lane

Spire Liverpool Hospital has started work at Number One Penny Lane to turn into a state-of-the art medical facility.

The Victorian building is being refurbished by building contractors Lindrick Construction to create a 900-square foot facility with treatment and consulting rooms. Plans are in place to link the sandstone building to the main hospital via a glass corridor are in place for further ease of access.

When the refurbishment is completed One Penny Lane will house The Liverpool Eye Centre, a collaboration of senior Ophthalmic Surgeons providing comprehensive quality healthcare service through the clinic. There will also be a consultant lead Aesthetic Suite and a private GP service lead by Dr Arun Ghosh.

Alison Peake, Hospital Director at Spire Liverpool Hospital, said: "The building has an important heritage so we are being very careful in our conversion and sympathetic to its surroundings.

"It is in a Conservation area so it is important to comply with their conditions while making sure it serves its purpose as a medical facility."
