Spire Healthcare is one of the UK’s largest private hospital providers with 39 hospitals, 11 clinics and a specialist cancer care centre. The company offers a full range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services.

 

Spire was formed from the sale of BUPA Hospitals to private equity company Cinven in 2007. Since then, it has periodically added further hospitals and clinics, including 10 Classic hospitals in 2008 and, most recently, the acquisition of St Anthony’s hospital in Greater London in May 2014. Since its inception, the Group has made significant capital investments of more than £725 million in its estate, and continues to deliver excellent care with leading clinical outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction. 

As of 31 December 2015, the Group employed over 7,840 people (full-time equivalents) nationwide and has more than 3,790 experienced, self-employed consultant surgeons and other specialists with substantive practices at the Group’s facilities. In 2015, the Group generated revenue of £884.8 million, which has grown 3.4% on previous year, and Adjusted EBITDAR of £160.1 million, which has grown 2.2% on previous year.
